Big Marine Park Reserve
Big Marine Park Reserve included the design of a new:
Contact Station, Restroom Facility, Lifeguard Station, and Picnic Shelter
In conjunction with extensive site and landscape design by SRF Consulting Group
Completion in June of 2008
Big Marine Park Reserve is owned and operated by Washington County and is part of the Minnesota Metropolitan Council's Regional Park System. The park was selected as a regional park facility because of its excellent natural resource features, which include: the St. Croix Valley, extensive ground moraine, and quality upland and wetland wildlife habitat. The county park currently consists of a trail network, boat launch, an outdoor play area, a swimming beach, and four structures.
The first phase of the project was completed in June of 2008, while future phases include campground facilities and further trail development. The current facilities include picnic shelters, an office area, concessions, changing rooms, restrooms, and break rooms for staff and visitor use. The site design incorporated features to minimize impact to natural resources, while preserving wildlife and wetland preservation and restoration.
