Proving no project is too small for Oertel Architects is the Public Works Building for the city of Hilltop.  The city of Hilltop is a small community completely surrounded by the City of Columbia Heights. Their one man public works department was working out of his truck, a residential style shed, and an empty lot.  The new facility is just over 3,000 square feet, has heated space for an office, a fabrication and work area, and storage for the city's equipment.  Durable materials and ample amounts of daylight are two features incorporated into the building's design.

A city of any size needs to protect its equipment and employees, and when a city's major investment is its work truck and maintenance staff, they should be taken care of, to minimize as much as possible the day to day wear on equipment and staff.
