CITY OF HOPKINS PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY

The project consisted of an expansion and renovation of the existing facility:

45,000 square foot expansion
Completion in 2003
Construction cost: $3,100,000

The project included site planning, re-evaluation of the previous program, evaluation of the existing building, development of several expansion options and the design of a major building expansion of the public works department.  It was determined that the best option retained the existing precast office and maintenance spaces, and replaced the older 1940's buildings with a new precast concrete building expansion.  The addition includes vehicle storage space, carpentry / sign shops, water meter shop, garbage truck storage, materials storage, restrooms and an elevator to the storage mezzanines.  The scope of work also involved renovating the existing lunch room, restrooms, storage and reception areas.  The exterior work included a new fuel island, salt storage, parking and covered materials storage areas.
