Old World Wisconsin remains a truly significant living museum.  The site was planned with a very strong and time-proven concept; with buildings grouped by ethnic origin and construction type, with ample landscaping and open space for screening the separate building sites, and with a variety of experiences.  This site is exemplar and important on a local and national scale because of this but also because the buildings and artifacts are of such a high quality, and virtually irreplaceable.

In conjunction with a team of consultants, Oertel Architects performed critical research and recommendations for Old World Wisconsin and the State Historical Society in south central Wisconsin.  The work here was performed over a period of several years.
