Prior Lake Public Works Facility
The Prior Lake public works and parks departments worked out of a small metal building for years, until urban expansion necessitated that a much larger, state-of-the-art building be constructed. Included in the architectural services was a feasibility study, report, design, and construction of the new maintenance facility. Phase two included the design and construction of the salt / sand building. It was a requirement that the salt building be built within a tight budget while matching the design of the main facility. Within the building are office spaces, lockers, restrooms, shops, mechanics areas, vehicle storage, a wash bay, welding areas, internal waste storage, parts storage, and vehicle storage. The multi-purpose space serves as a break room for staff during the day and a community room at night. The exterior includes gas islands, vehicle areas, storage bins, salt mixing, and expansion space. Every portion of the building was designed for expansion since this area continues to enjoy brisk growth.
