Within the City of Prior Lake, pump-house #4 is surrounded by single family housing.  The city and the community considered the existing pump-house building to be somewhat of an eyesore.  The new shell of the building was built around the existing portion for several reasons: in order to retain the existing insulation, the existing structure provided a secure place to store tools and equipment, the ability to retain the existing electrical system, to secure the well during demolition, and the key component of maintaining the operation of the pump-house during construction.  Corbelled brick and glass block were used on the exterior of the new facade for their longevity, durability, and aesthetic quality.
