St. Anthony Public Works Facility
St. Anthony Public Works was designed as a new facility along with the renovation of an existing building:
Completion in summer of 2004
Construction cost: $2,200,000
The City of St. Anthony is a community of over 8,000 residents and is located in both Ramsey and Hennepin Counties. It is five miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis and eight miles northwest of downtown St. Paul. The City is approximately 3 square miles and the Public Works Department maintains 25 miles of City streets. The project started with a 6 month planning process that included a 20 member task force of local citizens to determine project scope, budget, and site. It was determined that the ideal site was the existing site, but most of the existing buildings were not feasible to the project due to their condition, size, and quality. The project was phased and planned to allow the public works department to operate while construction was taking place just steps away from the existing operation. Included in the project was a new fabric salt storage building and a new masonry and concrete building to house maintenance, vehicles, shops, offices, and related operations. In addition, one of the existing buildings was retained for cold storage.
