WASHINGTON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER
Woodbury, Minnesota

  • Project type: New construction

  • Size: 28,000 square feet

  • Completion: 2009

The Washington County Environmental Center is a collection and public education facility for the county's highly effective household hazardous waste collection program.  This program removes household items that contain material and chemicals harmful to the environment and places them in the hands of companies and contractors that dispose of them properly.

The new facility consists of a large warehouse area for sorting and packaging received materials, a large multi lane drive for quick customer service, and an office and public interface area.

The public area includes a product reuse room and public education resources.  Public education occurs through display areas, tours, and during scheduled events such as composting and rain barrel demonstrations.
